What is Functional Mobility

All over the internet you can find trainers talking about mobility and functional mobility. The distinction between flexibility and functional mobility is having strength through the range of motion that you are flexible in. Functional mobility training both increases our range of motion and also strengthens our body in those extended range of motion.

The FRC® system defines functional mobility as follows, Functional Mobility is the ability to actively achieve a range of motion (FLEXIBILITY + STRENGTH/CONTROL). So Functional Mobility is taking acquired flexibility & adding strength through out that available range of motion.

At the beginning of October I got certified as a FRC® Mobility Specialist. This program allows me to optimize functional mobility training with clients in order to improve body control, safe-guard joints, and maximize movement potential safely, efficiently, and effectively.
